Milestone for Little John and An Grianán

Little John Nee: A Donegal Trilogy

There's something about a book that embodies achievement better than any other medium. Little John Nee – the writer, performer, songwriter and storyteller whose work is deeply rooted in the oral tradition and stories of ordinary Irish people – seemed truly touched at the recent launch of A Donegal Trilogy, the first publication of his work in print. Something about a book of his work, he said, meant he'd made it, he'd come of age.

The publication of A Donegal Trilogy marked the end of Little John Nee's much-lauded, six-month residency at An Grianán Theatre. Similar to Little John, Daithi Ramsay of An Grianán, the book's publisher, also felt the event marked an important milestone in the history of the theatre. Publishing is weighty business; An Grianán stepped up to the plate and produced a very handsome little book. We're happy to have helped by designing it.
