Food = Community

The Food Coast

Like everybody, we enjoy good food, but that only partially explains why The Food Coast enjoys such a special place in our hearts.

Donegal's good food initiative is about so much more than food; it's about local and regional development, transparent systems of food production and food distribution, it's about building on Donegal's outstanding natural assets and the skills of the people living in our communities. But perhaps more than anything, its about defining a sense place and community – our community – and expressing this through our food culture.

These are just some of the ideas we hoped to capture with the development of the name, The Food Coast, and the postage frank vernacular of the design identity we placed around it.

Of course, at some level food is really about enjoyment and pleasure, getting together with friends and family and sharing and good, sociable meal. That's what we wanted to achieve with The Food Coast Harvest Feast, the event we helped organise with the talented owners and staff of Rathmullan House, An Bonnán Buí, Harry's Bar and Restaurant, and The Beach House Bar and Restaurant. It was an incredible day with plenty of rare Donegal sunshine and smiling faces. You can find out more about it at www.thefoodcoastharvestfeast.com.
