Dog Chases Cat

The Environmental Protection Agency

Dog not only chases cat, dog subjects cat to strange and unusual experiments. Dog inflates cat like a balloon. Dog threatens to deflate inflated cat with a pin. Not to worry, though, dog's mad-scientist pursuit of cat, in this case, is all in the name of boosting environmental awareness.

Be honest, how many primary school kids do you know who really enjoy being preached to about the importance of environmental protection?

Urban Democracy

Völkerkunde Museum, Berlin

They're called Litfaßsäulen – the traditional outdoor advertising columns that are a characteristic part of public space in German cities.

Can a hippo swim ... ?

The Berlin Zoo

And what about a penguin ... can it fly? The answer to both those questions: a qualified yes.

Hippos can indeed swim, although they prefer to walk or run instead along the silty bottoms of the rivers and lakes in their central African habitat. And while you might think penguins swim, they technically fly under water. The educational exhibitions we developed for the Berlin Zoo answered these, and many other questions, in ways which inspired visitors of all ages to take another, closer look at the amazing world around us.

The Power and the Beauty of Words

McCann FitzGerald

Good tools in the right hands are truly a thing of real beauty and power – this applies to skilled lawyers as much as it does skilled cabinetmakers.

A lawyer's tools are words, both written and spoken, and the sometimes highly complex concepts, structures and arguments they build with them. Like the good cabinetmaker, the good lawyer builds his or her opinions elegantly and efficiently, with economy but perhaps also a flare of something here or there for style and emphasis.

Points of Contact

Iskus Health

Sometimes a company's most important point of contact with its customers is the one most easily overlooked, something as mundane and functional as an invoice, an account statement or a despatch notice.

Think about it, though. Who really enjoys getting an invoice? Worse yet, who enjoys getting an invoice that is hard to decipher and understand, making the pain of paying just that bit more painful. At this tension-filled moment in the transaction process, wouldn't it be wiser to make paying, if not exactly a pleasure, maybe just a little less of a chore?

Failed to Launch

Dublin Bus

Some designers look at things like charts, graphs, tables, and maps and cringe in horror.

Returning to Our Roots

National College of Art & Design

Nearly a decade has passed since we used a series of egg-based vignettes to illustrate the student prospectus for the National College of Art and Design in Dublin (NCAD).

Perfect Pints

Ever experience one of those moments when you think you see an unexpected, and possibly undesired recurring theme in your life? The discovery of a truth that you'd rather remain hidden in the depths of your unconscious? We think we may have just had one of those — everywhere we look the subject of beer keeps popping up around us, this time in the form of Perfect Pints, a project we worked on with Justin Knecht, a friend and colleague based in Sligo.

Food = Community

The Food Coast

Like everybody, we enjoy good food, but that only partially explains why The Food Coast enjoys such a special place in our hearts.

Filligans

Sara and Philip Moss, the couple behind Filligans, make high quality, artisan jams, chutneys and sauces. The hands-on business is an expression of who they are - we wanted the design of their product labels and packaging to reflect this. The Filligans lettering is from Philip; the butterfly expresses the family's interest in the natural world. The coloured border holds them together and gives them impact on retailers' shelves. Bright, clean and inviting, the labels were also designed for functionality.
